More than 100 seventh-graders from Tyler ISD’s six middle schools qualified for the 2013-14 Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP).

The honor goes to current seventh-grade students who score in the 95th percentile or higher on one or more recent grade-level state exams in math, reading or science, according to a TISD news release.

Duke TIP is the largest program of its kind in the nation and spans 16 states. Qualified students are invited to register and test for the ACT or SAT college entrance exam as seventh-graders, giving them greater insight into their academic abilities and opportunities, according to the news release. Many of the students earn exceptionally high scores.

The program will honor seventh-graders who score highest on their ACT and SAT exams at ceremonies on university campuses during 2014.
