A group of Robert E. Lee High School students made a special homecoming memory for their classmates.

Earlier this month, junior Megan Abrameit and seven of her friends had a homecoming dance for the life skills students on campus, according to a Tyler ISD news release.

They presented homemade mums and garters to each life skills student, served cookie cake and danced with the students to their favorite music for the class period.

“I have a younger sister with special needs, so it is something I am passionate about,” Megan said, according to the news release. “We started last year by creating just a few mums, but wanted to do more this year.”

The friends met at Megan’s house to make the mums and garters and personalized them for each of the 14 students in the class.

“I’ve known a couple of these students since middle school,” Lincoln Shaw said, according to the news release. “They are our friends, so it is really fun to watch them react.”
