Top-notch cowboys and cowgirls will be on hand this week performing at the 20th Annual Rusk County PRCA Rodeo.

The rodeo will take place Thursday through Saturday at the Rusk County Youth Expo Center on Farm-to-Market Road 13 West, near the Rusk County Airport. Rodeo events begin at 7:30 p.m. each day.

Rodeo chairman Ron Yandle said this year’s event features good stock and a variety of rodeo events, such as bull riding, bareback riding and barrel racing. For children 12 and under, there will be a calf scramble, and for children 6 and under, there is a sheep chase.

Ted Harbin, media director with Carr Pro Rodeo and Pete Carr’s Classic Pro Rodeo, said they want to put on the best show possible for attendees in Henderson.

“The thing about rodeo is you just never know what’s going to happen,” Yandle said. “It’s kind of like being at a NASCAR race. Someone is going to wreck, you just don’t know when.”

Rodeo Clown Cody Sosebee also is slated to do acts, and replays will be broadcast on a big screen, Yandle said.

He said admission is free for everyone on Thursday, which is Bar None Cowboy Church night.

For adults, Friday and Saturday admission is $12 at the gate or $10 in advance. For children ages 6 to12, admission those days is $5. Children five and younger are free.

Yandle said tickets are available at Baskin’s stores in Henderson, Longview and Tyler and at Lone Star feed store in Henderson.
