For the second time this season, Johnny Football has been honored as The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week.
Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel was cited for the seventh week of the college football season, Cindy Smoak, SPORTyler vice president, announced on Monday.
Manziel, who was born in Tyler and is a graduate of Kerrville Tivy High School, threw for 346 yards and ran for two touchdowns in a game where Texas A&M had to rally to beat Mississippi 41-38 on Saturday in Oxford, Miss.
The Southeastern Conference QB led the Aggies on one final drive where he had runs of 12 and 13 yards that led to the game-winning field goal as time expired.
Manziel attempted 39 passes with 31 completions and an interception. He also had 18 carries for 113 yards. He was also named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.
Next up for Manziel, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, and the No. 7 Aggies is No. 24 Auburn. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Kyle Field in College Station. CBS will broadcast the game.

Bralon Addison, Oregon: The sophomore wide receiver from Missouri City (Fort Bend Hightower HS) had eight catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns in the Ducks’ 45-24 win over Washington in Seattle.
Tim Cornett, Nevada, Las Vegas: The UNLV senior running back from Galena Park (North Shore HS) rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. He also had four catches for 28 yards in the Rebels’ 39-37 win over Hawaii in Las Vegas.
Tevin Reese, Baylor: The senior wide receiver from Temple (Temple HS) had five catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears’ 35-25 win over Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan.
Davis Webb, Texas Tech: The freshman quarterback from Prosper connected on 35 of 56 pass attempts for 415 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the Red Raiders’ 42-35 win over Iowa State in Lubbock.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division 1 football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year Division I Texas college.
The semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 18 with the final four unveiled Dec. 2.
The banquet and the announcement of the winner will be Jan. 10 in Tyler.
