Samsung donates $8,000 to East Texas Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry

To celebrate Hunger Action Month, Samsung donated $8,000 to the East Texas Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry Program as part of its ongoing philanthropic commitment to communities in Texas and promoting the food bank’s services across their 26-county region.

“The East Texas Food Bank is honored to receive Samsung’s generous donation during Hunger Action Month,” Dennis Cullinane, executive director of the East Texas Food Bank, said in the news release. “Samsung is one of today’s largest corporations, yet is committed to social responsibility and cares deeply about the well-being of the members in our community who are faced with challenging circumstances every day.”

Since 1988, the East Texas Food Bank has provided food to more than 200 partner agencies in an effort to feed children, those in poverty and seniors throughout 26 counties in East Texas. In 2012, nearly 18 million pounds of food was distributed to hungry East Texans equaling approximately 15 million meals.

“Samsung is pleased to be able to contribute to Hunger Action Month through our donation to the East Texas Food Bank,” said Ann Woo, director of corporate social responsibility at Samsung, in the news release. “We’re dedicated to doing our part to help improve the quality of life for those in need across the region, and we hope to continue supporting the East Texas Food Bank for years to come.”

Samsung also has made donations to other local Tyler organizations including: Special Wish Child Inc., the Park of East Texas, The Discovery Science Place, Boys and Girls Club of East Texas, Tyler Fire Department, Tyler Public Library and Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.
