Drew Pace was released from the Smith County Jail at 12:56 a.m. this morning, and by 6:20 a.m. he was again wearing a bright orange jump suit and having his mugshot taken.

This time the 22-year-old Tyler man, who had already been in jail twice this month, was being booked into jail on a burglary of a building charge.

Tyler Police say they were notified about 3 a.m. of a burglary at the East Texas Medical Center Marketing Services Building at 815 S. Beckham Ave. While responding to the scene, police learned an ETMC security officer had a suspect in custody.

Police said they found blood in the office. They believe the man was cut gaining entry through shattered windows he had broken.

Rebecca Berkley, ETMC spokesperson, said at around 8:30 a.m. today she was en route to her office, which was burglarized this morning.

"I don't know what I'll find, but it was our security officer who caught him after the alarm sounded," she said.

Pace was treated at the scene by paramedics for cuts to his hands and arms, taken to the Smith County Jail and booked in on the burglary charge.

Smith County records show Pace was released from jail just before 1 a.m. on a possession of marijuana charge, and that he was in jail earlier in the month on a theft of property charge.

Bond has not been set on the new charge at this time and Pace remains jailed awaiting arraignment.
