A man suspected of stealing over 600 gallons of fuel from Cherokee County in early July was caught following a joint investigation between three police agencies.
Zacorian White of Corrigan was arrested by the Nacogdoches Police Department last week during a traffic stop, according to a news release from the Cherokee County Sherriff’s Office. He is suspected of committing several fuel thefts in the area, the release states.
While Nacogdoches officials questioned White, he admitted to several other thefts they were not aware of, including thefts in the City of Alto and Cherokee County, according to officials.
White was interviewed by Cherokee County and confessed to being involved in theft of over 600 gallons of diesel from the Cherokee County Precinct 2 County Barn and a separate theft of fuel from the Alto ISD bus barn. Both thefts occurred between July 9 and July 10 in the city limits of Alto on Farm-to-Market Road 851, the release states.
Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Vera Foreman issued a state jail felony warrant, and Nacogdoches County was notified of the document, according to authorities.
If White makes bond in Nacogdoches County, he will be transported to Cherokee County and arraigned, the release states. No bond has been set.
The theft from the Alto bus barn is under investigation by the Alto Police Department and additional charges may be filed by the State of Texas Comptroller’s Office, according to authorities.
