East Texan graduates Navy basic training


Dorothy J. Martin has successfully graduated basic training at the U.S. Naval Academy in Great Lakes, Ill.

Martin is a 2007 graduate of John Tyler High school and studied at Mississippi State University and graduate from West Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree.

She is the daughter of Gerald and Carolyn Wilson of Tyler.


Air Force

Air Force Airman Richard A. Morgan graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Morgan is the son of Lee Stone of Tyler, and grandson of Ed Morgan of Bulverde.

He is a 2010 graduate of John Tyler High School.



Shipmates who served aboard the battleship USS Missouri (BB-63) will hold their 40th annual reunion at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel in Harrisburg, Pa., Sept. 10-18, 2013.
