JT graduate recipient of Class of 2001 scholarship

John Tyler High School graduate Kourtney Guthrie is the latest recipient of the Class of 2001 scholarship. Ms. Guthrie plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University in the fall.

That John Tyler class annually provides a $500 scholarship to a deserving graduate from the school, according to a TISD Foundation news release.

“Kourtney exemplifies the academic excellence, leadership and commitment to service that we hope to encourage at John Tyler through this annual scholarship award,” Karla J. Aghedo, lead donor and author of the scholarship’s parameters, said, according to the news release. “Her record of service and leadership at John Tyler and in the Tyler community is outstanding.”

TISD Foundation executive director Larry Goddard said foundation leaders admire and appreciate the John Tyler Class of 2001, according to the news release.

“We feel it is vital that our graduates see the wonderful potential of greatness from our current student body,” Goddard said, according to the news release. “This scholarship proves that our alumni believe in Tyler ISD and our valuable graduating seniors.”
