A Smith County man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a home and sexually assaulting a minor.

Marcus Allen Edmiston, 26, is accused of breaking into a house on south Farm-to-Market Road 756 early Tuesday and assaulting a girl, according to a news release from the Smith County Sheriff’s office.

Edmiston was arrested by deputies Wednesday evening after an arrest warrant was issued by District Judge Christi Kennedy.

He was charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit sexual assault, and bond was set at $750,000. Additional charges may be pending, the release stated.

Edmiston was identified from a description given by the victim and from interviewing other residents who live in the area.
