NEW YORK (AP) — Federal prosecutors say an alleged gangster was caught on tape about two years ago complaining that he didn't his cut from a $6 million airport heist in 1978 that was dramatized in the film "Goodfellas."

The recorded rant by Vincent Asaro was a break in an investigation that resulted in murder, robbery and other charges brought Thursday against Asaro, his son and three other men.

Prosecutors say a cooperating witness told investigators that Asaro had directed him to participate in the Lufthansa Airlines heist at Kennedy airport, one of the largest cash thefts in American history. The cooperator contends the robbers were promised $750,000 each, but were either killed or never paid.

Ansaro's lawyer told reporters his client expects to beat the charges.
