TJC Apache Belles names 2014-15 line

The Tyler Junior College Apache Belles recently introduced the team’s 67th line during the annual Formal Announcements in Wise Auditorium.

During the event, Apache Belles Director Jasilyn Schaefer introduced this year’s 50-member team, the Belles debuted this year’s high-kick routine, and the 2014-15 officers were announced, according to a TJC news release.

Head dance captain is Natalie Hinrichs, of Weatherford. Dance captains are Destiny Eaton, Weatherford; Jayda Gray, Grand Prairie; Madeline Jones, Tyler; and Shelby Knox, Garland. 

“Formal Announcements is the culmination of the hard work of the first week of training camp and it marks a memorable time in the experience of each Apache Belle,” Mrs. Schaefer said. “The new freshmen receive their Ap-ache Belle drop, which is the necklace that symbolizes their position as an Apache Belle.”

The Formal Announcements event has been a tradition since the 1980s.

“They are an emotional and exciting time for every Apache Belle, both past and present,” Mrs. Schaefer said.

The Apache Belles’ first halftime performance this year will be in the TJC Apaches season opener against the Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bruce Field in Athens.
