Development of the much-awaited The Village at Cumberland Park continues to progress as a national retailer announced Thursday its plans to hire about 100 employees.

Gordmans, Inc., a Nebraska-based apparel and home décor retailer, will open its first Texas store at the shopping center on Sept. 25. The 50,000-square-foot store, at 8950 S. Broadway Ave., Suite 148, will offer the latest brands, fashions and styles in apparel and home décor, big savings of up to 60 percent off department store prices, representatives said.

Gordmans’ department store merchandise includes name brand apparel for all ages, footwear, handbags, fragrances, accessories, wall art, accent furniture, tabletop décor, floral and garden, candles, toys and more.

Founded in 1915, Gordmans is now among the fastest expanding retailers in the country, representatives said. The company added nine stores in 2012 and 10 stores in 2013, increasing its store base by almost 40 percent since 2010. This year, including the Tyler store, Gordmans will open seven stores throughout the country.

Gordmans, which has 5,000 associates, will create about 100 jobs with the new Tyler store. Interested candidates can apply online at Gordmans.com/Careers or in person at Workforce Solutions of East Texas, 4100 Troup Highway, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 11-15.

Gordmans will open for customers for the first time at 9 a.m. on Sept. 25 and plans to have a grand opening celebration on Oct. 3-5. Store hours will be 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Its open and contemporary store design creates an upscale shopping environment that features a children’s theatre called Gordmans Giggles and a sports-themed television viewing area called Gordmans Grandstand.

Forbes magazine ranked Gordmans No. 29 on its 2012 list of America’s 100 best small-cap companies, citing that these companies are leading America’s economic comeback.

Apparel magazine ranked Gordmans No. 42 on its 2013 list of the Top 50 leading apparel retailers, recognizing Gordmans for profitability, product innovation and marketing excellence.
