Chandler Historical Society will sponsor a free quilt show, salad supper and quilt program.
The quilt show will be at Chandler Museum and Visitor Center on Texas Highway 31 West from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 13, 15 and 16 and from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 14.
The historical society will serve free cookies and lemonade to visitors. A wide array of quilts from Chandler area families will be on display throughout the museum, including vintage quilts dating to the 1880s, Depression era and newer novelty quilts.
In conjunction with the quilt show, the historical society will host a free salad supper at 6 p.m. Aug. 14 followed by a program presented by Cathy Woodson at 6:45 p.m. at Chandler Community Center.
Edom Historical Society members will join Chandler Historical Society members for the supper.
Ms. Woodson will speak on the history of quilts and show 10 of her vintage quilts. She is an avid vintage quilt collector and has served twice as president of the Quilter’s Guild of East Texas. She has also been chairperson of two past guild quilt shows in Tyler.
Amy Murphy, of Edom, also a vintage quilt collector, will assist with the program.
A brief Chandler Historical Society business meeting will follow the quilt program.
