A Tyler man who is a material witness in a capital murder case was behind bars Friday after he turned himself in on charges of tampering with evidence and failure to respond to a subpoena.
Tyler police spokesman Don Martin said his agency obtained a warrant for Tyiska Ramone Gray, 31, for tampering with physical evidence in the P.T. Cole Park shooting that happened July 30, 2013, that killed 20-year-old Briana Raquel Young.
Martin said the warrant has to do with the disposing of weapons possibly related to the case.
Smith County District Attorney Matt Bingham said Gray also is a witness in the case, but he could not discuss any details because the case is under a protective order, which restricts information about the case being disseminated to the public.
Martin said Gray turned himself in Friday about 1 p.m. and was booked into the Smith County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
