Quitman police continue their investigation into the deaths of two little girls ages 3 and 4, and have confirmed one man has been arrested in connection to the case.

According to information released by the department, Thomas Wayne "TJ" Liles, 19, of Quitman, was arrested for tampering with or fabricating evidece, a third-degree felony.

Police said witnesses observed Liles running from an apartment at the Dogwood Villa Apartments at 102 Earlene Drive, where the two girls were found dead, and throwing a large item into a nearby dumpster.

"Searching the dumpster, police located items consistent with having come from the apartment where the girls were found dead. During an interview with a man matching the physical description provided to police, Liles, admitted to placing the items into the dumpster," a report stated.

However, police said it is unclear at the present time if the discarded items are related to the deaths. Police have not released any additional information about the deaths at this time.
