Friends of the Rose held a luncheon on Wednesday for the Tyler women of the Texas Rose Festival queen’s court, their mothers and guests.
Those honored included Rose Queen Kathryn Elizabeth Peltier and Duchess of the Rose Festival Kathleen Sinclair Bertram.
The “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” luncheon was held at Willow Brook Country Club. Tables reflected the festival’s theme, “Cirque de la Rose.” Janie Stewart gave the prayer, Shelby Burkett of MarY V’s spoke on fashion and Karen Norman played the piano.
Rachel Cooper and Lauren Brown presented a gift to Miss Bertram on behalf of the members of the queen’s court from Tyler. Taylor Carroll and Callie Worthen presented gifts to honorees on behalf of Friends of the Rose.
An auxiliary of the Texas Rose Research Foundation, Friends of the Rose hosts a luncheon each summer heralding the start of rehearsals for court members. Festival participants this week are preparing for the Queen’s Coronation ceremony that will take place during the Texas Rose Festival in October.
Friends of the Rose is sponsored by Chamblee’s Rose Nursery, Hand Rose Farms, Hand Wholesale Nurseries, Jernigan Lone Star Realty, La Tee Da Flowers, Lone Star Rose Nursery, Mea Nursery, Nix Roses, Ran-Pro Farms, Regions Bank, Rose Country Tractor, Roses USA and Tate Rose Nursery.
