Smith County sheriff’s deputies Monday continued investigating a shooting that left two injured in the Troup area.

Sheriff Larry Smith said his dispatch received a 911 call about 8:50 p.m. Sunday that multiple shots had been fired in the 19000 block of County Road 2343 north of Troup.

Deputies responded to the call along with EMS and officers with Troup Police Department,   Arp Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

“Officers arrived on scene to find two male victims, ages 38 and 48, who had been shot in their legs. The victims were transported by EMS to a Tyler hospital where they received treatment for their injuries,” he said.

Smith said witnesses stated that the shots were fired following an altercation involving one of the victims after which the suspects fled the premises.

Smith said the investigation is ongoing, and more details will be released as they become available.
