Fireworks show part of July 5 event in Whitehouse

The public is invited to the 2014 Independence in the Park, sponsored by the Whitehouse Chamber of Commerce.

Open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., the free event will be held at Whitehouse City Park on Saturday, July 5th and will have a huge slate of things to do, see, eat and drink. Like the summer events from previous years, there will be a Lonestar BBQ Society Bar-B-Q cook-off, deadline to enter is June 30th. Registration forms can be found at .

There will be live music from a local classic country band – Texas Rebellion, the splash park open, a bounce house, balloon artist and face painters for the kiddos, games, vendor booths and food & drinks for sale. On top of that, day begins with a car show sponsored by ABC Auto, (forms to enter your car can be found at ) and there will be a huge fireworks display set to music by Mike Adams.

They will also be raffling off a custom golf cart that will be at the park all day for folks to purchase raffle tickets. Tickets are $5/each or 5 for $20. Vendors wishing to have a booth at Independence in the Park need to send in both a booth application and booth agreement. Both can be found at . Vendors also need to be current on their Whitehouse Chamber of Commerce membership.

Tentative Schedule:

10:00am – 2:00pm Car show (prizes for different categories of cars/trucks)

1:00pm BBQ Cook-off chicken judging

2:00pm BBQ Cook-off ribs judging

2:00pm Car show awards

3:00pm BBQ Cook-off brisket judging

4:00pm - 5:00pm BBQ Cook-off awards

10:00am – 5:00pm Kiddo entertainment, splash park open, (entrance fee for splash park), games and vendor booths

5:00pm – 9:00pm Live band
