Jacksonville Police discovered pot in the pot during a Sunday afternoon visit to the Lodge apartments.
Four people were arrested, and another is being sought, after marijuana was found in a toilet at the apartment.
Sgt. Daniel Franklin said officers visited apartment number 20 because someone residing there had active local warrants. While waiting for a response to their knock at the door, one officer could see in plain view a coffee table with marijuana scattered around the top of the table scattered. The officer also saw a woman scraping the marijuana off the table and into a red cup.
When the woman, identified as Sherry Lightle, 36, opened the door, the officer asked her to turn over the drugs he had seen.
Lightle allowed the officer into the apartment to retrieve the narcotics, and he then heard movement in a bathroom. He entered into the bathroom and found three people there.
One of the people told the officer that they were hiding in the bathroom because he had a small amount of marijuana and he dumped it into the toilet. The officer saw the marijuana in the toilet bowl, according to Franklin, along with a large amount of marijuana in the back of the toilet.
The officer began the process of arresting the people inside the apartment, but Jeffery Jones, 23, was able to pull free from officers and fled on foot. He has not yet been captured.
A subsequent search of the apartment yielded approximately 484 grams of marijuana, numerous scales, and drug paraphernalia. All subjects on scene were arrested and charged with the following: Lightle – possession of marijuana greater than 4 ounces but less than 5 pounds, a state jail felony;
Nathan Moore, 26 - possession of marijuana greater than 4 ounces but less than 5 pounds, a state jail felony;
two others were arrested on misdemeanor drug possession charges. Warrants were issued for Jones for possession of marijuana greater than 4 ounces but less than 5 pounds, a state jail felony, and for evading arrest.
