Growing Stick gives out 2 awards to former students

Tyler residents Maribeth Jones and Taylor Williams are this year’s recipients of The Growing Stick Learning Center of Tyler Scholarship award.

This is the second year Growing Stick is giving the scholarships, which are valued at $1,000 each.

Ms. Jones is a Robert E. Lee High School graduate who participated in academics, cheerleading, and student council. She attended The Growing Stick from 1997 to 2004 and said the experience positively influenced her life through education and lifelong friendships, according to a news release.

Ms. Williams is a Grace Community School graduate who will attend The University of North Texas, where she was accepted into the music program. She attended the Growing Stick from 1998 to 2001 and said it gave her a great foundation that started her education career, according to the news release.
