During the Click It or Ticket enforcement program, officers with the Tyler Police Department working specifically on this initiative wrote a total of 98 citations for seatbelt violations and 4 citations for child safety seat violations.

Don Martin, the department's public information officer, said the Tyler Police Department conducted a recent traffic survey in the City of Tyler to determine what percentage of occupants of a vehicle was wearing seatbelts.

"The survey results indicated that 98 percent of vehicle occupants were buckled up, that was an increase of 2 percent over last year. We are pleased with the results of this survey and continue to encourage everyone to buckle up for safety," he said.
