Chapel Hill Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Chapel Hill High School graduation is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Tyler Junior College’s Wagstaff Gymnasium.

Valedictorian Matthew David Coker, son of Emily Kate Coker and David Andrew Coker, plans to attend Texas A&M University where he will major in geology with the goal of becoming a volcanologist for the U.S. Geological Service.

His activities and awards include: Terry Scholar, NASA High School Aerospace Scholar, band member who competed for four years at the State Solo and Ensemble Contest and a four-year regional qualifier in UIL Number Sense and Science.

Salutatorian Sarah Suzanne Zimmerman, daughter of Kristin Mauldin and Erik Zimmerman, plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin and major in nursing with a goal of specializing in pediatric nursing.

Miss Zimmerman will graduate with more than 30 hours of dual credit from Tyler Junior College, and has been active in culinary arts, choir, and UIL competitions throughout high school.

Other honor graduates are: Mohammad Alim, Shelbi Allen, Jonathan Barahona, Jonathan Bonilla, Fatima Borja Saucedo, Andrew Carr, Rachel Davis, Katherine Finch, Danielle Ford, Samantha MacKenzie Harris, Demarcus Jones, Julie Kast, Jacob Melton, Dusty Mumphrey, Braden Nelson, Jazarit Ochoa, Jordan Ratliff, Clarissa Rimmer, Abbey Stanton and Manshaya Thapa.
