A painting party will take place today in support of the 6x6@110 exhibit and fundraiser.

The painting party is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. at Gallery Main Street, 110 W. Erwin St.

According to a news release, the 6x6@110 project serves as a fundraiser for Gallery Main Street and arts programming emanating from the gallery.

The idea of 6x6@110 is to get artists and arts supporters to create art on small canvases distributed by Gallery Main Street. The canvases are turned back in to the gallery, and then sold via special exhibit for $20 each. All proceeds will go to the gallery and arts programming.

A 6x6 opening party is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 6.

Participants are encouraged to attend today’s painting party to create miniature works of art in any media.

Snacks and beverages will be available. There also will be music and more, and the gallery will provide canvases and paint.

“This painting party is an opportunity for artists not only to support the 6x6 project, but also to socialize, share ideas for new techniques and experiment with these small canvases,” Beverly Abell, with the City of Tyler Main Street Department, said.

More information on the project can be found atwww.downtowntylerarts.com . Information also is available by calling Gallery Main Street at 903-593-6905. Additionally, canvases and guidelines are available at the gallery.
