East Texas Substance Abuse Coalition will hold its “Substance Abuse Prevention: Town Hall Meeting” on Tuesday to discuss and raise awareness about the issue of underage drinking, marijuana abuse and prescription drug abuse.
Next Step Community Solutions, in collaboration with the community, is sponsoring the event.
Parents, teachers, officials, youth and other community members will be educated about the impact that substance abuse has on the community, and they will develop possible ways to address this issue.
Local law enforcement, counselors, prevention professionals and area nonprofit leaders also will do short talks (6 to 8 minutes) about how they see the issue of substance abuse in Smith County.
The event will start at 7 p.m. at Liberty Hall.
