An anonymous tip led Texas Department of Public Safety troopers to Frankston, where they arrested Victor Jose Ortega on Wednesday.
DPS spokeswoman Jean Dark said Ortega escaped custody after he was arrested during a traffic stop on Friday on Texas Highway 155 South in Dogwood City.
Ortega was spotted in a vehicle traveling eastbound on Murchison Street in Frankston.
“A Frankston police officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver of which refused to pull over and a short pursuit entailed. Troopers were able to apprehend the suspect in the Subway parking lot on (Texas) Highway 155 in Frankston about 2:30 p.m. this afternoon,” Dark said.
Ortega was in Anderson County Jail on charges of failure to identify, three charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and escape.
DPS was assisted by Smith County Sheriff’s Office and Frankston police.
