An anonymous tip led Department of Public Safety troopers to Frankston where they arrested Victor Jose Ortega this afternoon.
DPS Spokeswoman Jean Dark said Ortega had escaped custody after he was arrested following a traffic stop Friday on Hwy 155 South in Dogwood City.
Ortega was spotted in a vehicle traveling eastbound this afternoon on Murchison Street in Frankston.
"A Frankston police officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver of which refused to pull over and a short pursuit entailed. Troopers were able to apprehend the suspect in the Subway parking lot on Hwy 155 in Frankston about 2:30 p.m. this afternoon," Dark said.
Ortega is being held in the Anderson County Jail on charges of fail to identify, three charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and escape.
DPS was assisted by Smith County Sheriff’s Office and Frankston police.
