The Rudy’s Bar-B-Q Camo Cups are now available as part of this month’s Cup for a Cause campaign to raise money for three military charity partners.
Since April 1, the American Widow Project, which helps young military widows; Homes for Our Troops, which builds homes for severely injured veterans; and Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides college scholarships to children of special-ops soldiers killed in action; have been competing for votes on Rudy’s Facebook page. Each of the three nonprofits will divide the funds raised through the donations from guests who purchase the camo cup. The nonprofit with the most votes by May 31 will receive 50 percent of the total funds raised, second place will receive 35 percent, and third place will receive 15 percent.
Rudy’s already has raised nearly $50,000 and hopes to raise $100,000 by the end of the month, representatives said.
“Rudy’s Cup for a Cause has been a successful fundraising platform for our charity partners since its launch in October 2012, when we changed our cups to Pink to highlight breast cancer awareness,” Pete Bassett, vice president of operations at Rudy’s Bar-B-Q, said in a statement.
Guests who purchase a large drink at Rudy’s in Tyler and other locations in May will receive a camo cup. Guests who donate $1 will be given a coupon for a free drink during their next visit. This is the fourth Rudy’s Cup for a Cause campaign. The past three years combined raised more than $250,000 for nonprofits. Rudy’s guests can continue voting for the charities on Facebook once per day.
