(MCT) -- Palestine Outpatient Veterans Affairs Clinic will host a VA2K Walk and Roll event 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 21 at Palestine Mall to help homeless veterans.
"This is our fourth year doing this. It seems like every year gets a little bigger and different," said Palestine Outpatient VA Clinic Nurse Manager Patricia Beckendorf . "We are going to have karaoke singing. Several home health groups will have information booths and we are going to have a few other booths too."
Participants can do the walk inside the mall concourse or outside the mall.
"I have it mapped out -- it's a few laps inside -- and I have it mapped out on the outside as well," Beckendorf said. "If you are in a wheelchair, someone can push you. You don't have to walk to participate, but it can be a lot of fun."
There is no fee, but participants are asked to donate an item for a homeless veteran. Items could include clothing, toiletries and nonperishable food.
