A woman wounded in a shooting Wednesday is being investigated by Tyler police.
Sgt. Paul Robeson said police received a 911 call at 3:49 p.m. that there was a family disturbance at 1004 W. Trezevant St.
When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that an adult woman was shot, Robeson said.
During the disturbance, Terral Carter, 23, apparently pulled out a small handgun and began shooting rounds at the floor, Robeson said. One of the rounds ricocheted and struck the woman in her right knee. She was transported to a hospital with a nonlife threatening injury.
At the same time, a small child was present and was standing near where the bullets were hitting the floor. The child was not injured.
Police planned to book Carter into Smith County Jail later Wednesday night after the investigation was completed, Robeson said.
