ANGELINA COUNTY — A group of children playing in the woods found the decomposing remains of a woman Saturday afternoon in the rural Rivercrest subdivision near the Angelina River. The children told adults, who called law enforcement.
Angelina County Sheriff Captain Alton Lenderman told CBS19 the missing woman is 30-year-old Elisha Maxine Henson of Pollok. She was last seen April 25 and was reported missing May 1.
Law enforcement said, based on the level of decomposition, Ms. Henson may have been dead for two to three days. Investigators were able to identify her from two tattoos described in her missing person report.
It’s not clear how Henson died, however, this case is being investigated as a homicide. Her remains have been sent to Jefferson County for autopsy.
Sheriffs, DPS and Texas Rangers are investigating the case.
