After accepting the resignation of retiring County Clerk Gwen Moffeit, Henderson County Commissioners Court voted to install Mary Margaret Wright as her successor, effective June 1.
Wright won the Republican primary for the office. Since she has no opposition in November, the court voted to let her take over a few months early.
"I've had about three conversations with her, and she's fully aware and prepared to give notice at her work where she's currently at," County Judge Richard Sanders said.
"I think that's how the people voted, and that's who they want in office," Precinct 1 Commissioner Scotty Thomas said.
