The names of two new Tyler ISD buildings and several personnel decisions are among the issues to be discussed and possibly voted on during today’s board meeting.
The school board is scheduled to discuss and possibly vote on the names for the new middle school being built on Three Lakes Parkway and the new career and technical education center being built near the intersection of Earl Campbell Parkway and Bennett Avenue.
Both buildings are among the projects included in the district’s 2013 bond package and are slated to open to students in fall 2015.
The district allowed the community to nominate names for the new campuses. School board policy requires district facilities be named after a person who has served the district or community or is a local, state or national figure. In addition, a building can be named after a local, state or national geographic area.
In other business, the board is scheduled to vote on the retirement of TISD athletic director Rod Kaspar and personnel decisions related to two other district administrator positions.
The board also is scheduled to hear a report about unfunded mandates from Dr. Christy Hanson, the district’s chief academic officer.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. in Conference Room B in the district Administration Building, 1319 Earl Campbell Parkway.
