The new edition of IN Magazine, which spotlights the best of East Texas, hits the newsstands Saturday.

“We are promoting the idea of the staycation – staying in the area for your summer vacation and enjoying the things we have right here,” said Danny Mogle, IN editor.

Readers will find hundreds of ideas of things to do and places to see in East Texas.

“I enourage those who say there’s nothing to do here to read our story ‘East Texas Cool,’” Mogle said. “It will change their point of view. They will never think of East Texas in the same way again. Adventures that await range from zipping through tree tops to exploring sunken treasures.”

The cover of the magazine features a painting of a trout by artist A.D. Maddox.

“It is one of the most unusual and eye-catching covers we’ve ever done,” Mogle said. “Her fish paintings are remarkable for their color and energy.”

An exhibition of paintings by Maddox and fellow outdoor artist Ed Anderson opens this month at Longview Museum of Fine Arts. These longtime friends share how the beauty of nature influences their lives.

IN readers also will learn about the growing movie-making industry in Shreveport (some of the biggest hits are being filmed there), meet The Cattle Barons’ Gala Little Wranglers (children who have battled cancer) and see the results of a busy mother’s beauty makeover.

The magazine is free and can be picked up at news racks all over the region. The online version is found at and includes stories not found in the print edition.

IN Magazine also powers an entertainment website, , that provides calendar listings of bands, performing arts, theater and events.
