A recently launched campaign gives the public an opportunity to contribute to the city’s animal care facility.

The city of Tyler announced Thursday that the campaign is to raise funds for the development of “get acquainted rooms” and “adoption display areas” at the new facility.

According to a news release, donations will be made via the Crowdfunding source, Citizinvestor.

The campaign already has kicked off with a generous $25,000 donation that will fund the animal care facility lobby, according to a news release.

The animal care facility will be at 4218 Chandler Highway on a property that includes 10 acres as well as existing buildings. The facility will be able to accommodate at least 75 dogs and 50 cats, according to a news release.

“We have been working towards Tyler maintaining its own animal care facility for several years, and we are very pleased to progress to this next step in making that happen,” City Manager Mark McDaniel said.

Donations, which are tax deductible, can be made at

facility. All proceeds will be used for the development and eventual opening of the animal care facility.
