The city of Tyler’s GIS, Parks and Recreation, and Solid Waste departments will host a geocache event this weekend, the city of Tyler announced.

The event, “Cache-In Trash-Out & Explore Lindsey Park,” is scheduled for 8-11:30 a.m. Saturday. According to a news release, attendees will meet near the softball fields in Lindsey Park “in the small open area between the parking lot and road.”

The event will not only focus on having fun and exploring the park, but also is an opportunity to volunteer time to help clean up the park.

“If you have never gone geocaching, this will be a great chance to learn what it’s all about,” according to the news release.

Snacks and drinks will be available, and attendees are asked to wear good shoes or boots and bring decent gloves, according to a news release. Attendees will be able to help with large and small items, and will be provided with the garbage bags, latex gloves and garbage tongs.
