The Lego Designs Family Contest will take place in celebration of National Library Week, the city of Tyler announced Tuesday.

The contest, hosted by the Tyler Public Library, is scheduled for 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. from Monday to April 17 in the story room.

According to a news release, families may use Lego building blocks to create designs based on their favorite books. The library provides the materials.

“Combining hands-on creative work with family time is a win-win for our community’s children,” Youth Services Librarian Linda Gray said. “It is also a great opportunity to show what the library has to offer as we celebrate National Library Week.”

Judging is slated for April 21 “for the project that most closely resembles a book and has the most creative design,” according to a news release. Winners receive a Lego prize package, and entries will be displayed in the library throughout April.

The program replaces the library’s regular monthly Lego Block Party, which resumes on May 17.
