TYLER (KYTX) - One side of a duplex in south Tyler was damaged after residents say a fire in the kitchen got out of control. The fire happened in the 7100 block of Richfield Drive around 9:30 Tuesday night.
When fire crews got to the scene, they saw fire coming out of one of the side windows. Residents told crews that neighbors tried to help to put the fire out, but they were unsuccessful.
Fire crews say no one was hurt in the fire. However, the two people living in the burned portion of the duplex will have to find somewhere to stay. Red Cross is being called out to assist them.
The other portion of the duplex may have light smoke damage, but it appears residents there will be able to stay.
