(MCT) -- Palestine YMCA has received nearly $9,000 for its after-school Super Snack meal program as part of a partnership with the national Walmart Foundation initiative to serve healthy snacks.
Super Snack provides makes healthy snacks available to kids who might otherwise be at risk of hunger.
"Some students, particularly those who receive free or reduced-cost breakfast and lunch, may not know where their next meal will come from when the school day ends," Palestine YMCA Child Care Director Carl Simons said. "At the Palestine YMCA, we are committed to keeping kids nourished all year long. Thanks to the Walmart Foundation, our Y will be able to do more to address this issue."
