Two men were in the Smith County Jail on Tuesday for burglarizing a building after a neighbor spied them in a building on County Road 171.

A Smith County Sheriff's Office news release stated a neighbor confronted the pair and they fled. The neighbor provided a description of the men and their pickup.

"As deputies arrived to investigate, a second call was received from Tyler Iron and Metal, located on North Loop 323, where an employee of the business was suspicious of the suspects as they attempted to sell scrap metal. When the employee requested identification, the suspects fled from the business," according to the news release.

Deputies began searching the area and soon located some of the stolen property, which the men had abandoned.

The burglars were found on Texas Highway 155 by Precinct 2 Constable Andy Dunklin, and responding sheriff's detectives took the men into custody for burglary of a building.
