Artists have more time to submit their work for the Downtown Tyler Arts Coalition’s third ArtWalk, the city of Tyler announced.
The new submission deadline for the event is Friday.
“The original entry deadline was March 7,” Beverly Abell, department leader for the City of Tyler’s Main Street department, said in a news release. However, “in light of the recent ice storm and the delays it may have caused in gathering entry materials together, we have extended the entry deadline by one week.”
During the ArtWalk event, which is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. on April 5, downtown buildings will open their doors to artists and art patrons, according to a news release.
Original artwork will be displayed in a variety of buildings, and the artists will be there to visit with community members, the news release states. Additionally, according to the news release, the event features arts demonstrations, live music and other activities.
Once applications are submitted, the applications are evaluated via a jury process by the ArtWalk organizing committee, according to a news release. Only original art works are accepted for display.
“We encourage artists to enter,” Ms. Abell said. “ArtWalk is one of our most popular downtown events. The artist has the opportunity to have hundreds of people see their work in the space of a few short hours.”
