East Texas Medical Center is seeking high school students interested in volunteering for six weeks this summer.
The Junior Volunteers program is open to students who will be high school sophomores through seniors in fall 2014.
The program runs June 16 to July 25 with a mandatory orientation on June 13, according to a news release.
To be considered for the program, students must complete an application, which includes a short essay; provide a recommendation letter from a school principal or counselor; demonstrate a positive attitude and hardworking nature; and have a 3.0 or higher GPA.
Participants volunteer one full day or two half days per week for a total of eight hours, according to the news release. Also, participants have the opportunity to participate in the new Leadership Academy program.
The volunteer program is open to 45 students. Applicants who turn in correctly completed registration forms and supporting material will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
