(MCT) -- With Rick Herron focusing solely on the Texan Theater, Kilgore City Council has amended its agreement with the renovator to remodel both the Texan and Crim theaters.
Originally Herron received the rights to renovate and then purchase both historic downtown theaters.
After Herron realized that converting the Crim into a venue similar to his Crown Opry Theater in Collinsville, Okla., was beyond his abilities, he and city officials scaled back the deal. Herron will now only concentrate on renovating Texan Theater into a restaurant and dance hall.
Kilgore City Manager Scott Sellers said the city is exploring other options for the Crim, including use for the Texas Shakespeare Festival.
