Wood County elections director Dawn Goldthorn e-mailed us this morning to let us know that the Tuesday election will be held, no matter what the weather conditions are. Here is the text of her message:

"I just wanted to touch base and let everyone know that the Election will still be held….as planned…tomorrow, March 4, 2014.

Election Administrators across northeast Texas are doing everything we can to have our polls open in the morning at 7:00am, however, the Secretary of States office says if we can’t…we can’t.  The election will NOT be cancelled...but some locations may not be able to open right at 7:00am due to icy weather conditions.

We encourage ALL voters not to take chances…wait until daylight…and be sure to check the roads before getting out and heading to the polls.

We are currently waiting on an advisory from the Secretary of State’s Office for further direction at this time and once I hear back from them…I will shoot another email so we can get word out to our voters regarding the election tomorrow."
