An East Texas Christian Academy teacher has been recognized for excellence as an educator.

The Park of East Texas Academic Rodeo selected first-grade teacher Trina McAllister as its Elementary Outstanding Educator of the Year, according to a school news release.

This is the second consecutive year an elementary teacher from the Tyler school has won this award, according to the news release.

ETCA Principal Paula Tapley praised Mrs. McAllister, describing her as an enthusiastic and compassionate teacher.

“She listens to her students, eases their fears and even encourages them in their activities outside of the classroom,” Ms. Tapley said. “She is deserving of this award for so many reasons, and ETCA is proud she is a part of our family.”

Mrs. McAllister was recognized Friday at the Academic Rodeo Awards Celebration, according to the news release.

The Academic Rodeo committee selects teachers for this award from nominations submitted by East Texas principals or heads of schools.

The committee considers the teacher’s accomplishments and dedication when making the selection, according to the news release.
