LONGVIEW -- A consultant says it will cost the city of Longview more than $2 million to add sidewalks, traffic lights and other pedestrian safety improvements to three major streets.

Brooke Droptini is a consultant with Freese and Nichols, a Tyler firm hired to find spots where the City of Longview needs improved pedestrian safety, told the city planning board that the city needs better sidewalks and pedestrian-centered traffic lighting.

Consultants will make a more formal presentation to the city council next week.
