A Tyler man accused of the February 2013 shooting death at Broadway Square Mall is scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to the Smith County 7th Judicial District Court.
Assistant Court Coordinator Toni White said Ricky Neal Jr. appeared in court Monday morning, but the case was continued. His next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday.
Neal is accused of shooting and killing 23-year-old Chris Mass at the mall on Feb. 9, 2013. A tweet that police said Neal sent to another man’s girlfriend sparked an altercation that preceded the shooting.
Neal is charged with first-degree felony murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
