The Center for Earth and Space Science Education at Tyler Junior College launched a new show this week and has a Valentine’s Day event.
“To Space & Back” is a 25-minute documentary designed to help viewers appreciate space exploration and science research and its effect on humans’ lives, according to a TJC news release.
Narrated by James May, who is host of BBC’s “Top Gear” and “The Edge Of Space,” the show considers how people perceive the planet and how space information has affected culture, the direction of science and the development of products and services in many fields.
For Valentine’s Day on Friday, the center is having the “Love Under the Stars” event. It starts at 7 p.m. with refreshments, followed by a domed-theater show about romance and the constellations with a classical music score.
Admission costs $75 per couple (must be 21 years or older), and includes hors d’oeuvres and spirits; full-dome planetarium show; an outdoor, telescopic viewing (weather permitting); a gift basket; and a commemorative photo, according to the news release.
Advanced tickets can be purchased online at www.tjc.edu/cesse or at the CESSE ticket counter, 1411 E. Lake St. Seating is limited.
