Private First Class Christopher McCormick arrived at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport this afternoon to a hero’s welcome from his family, friends, and the Welcome Home Soldiers group.

McCormick has been serving in Afghanistan for almost one year in the 377th Army Truck and Transport Division. McCormick was raised in the Tyler area and graduated from Chapel Hill High School.

McCormick is planning on re-enlisting next year and plans to make a full career of the military.  His father described him as light hearted and fun, but very serious about his military career and serving his country.

McCormick said that he was not expecting the welcome he received today, but felt very good about it and is looking forward to some well-deserved time with his family.
