The naming of two new Tyler ISD campuses will be up for discussion at a Monday school board meeting.
TISD spokeswoman Dawn Parnell said the school board is scheduled to talk about the process for naming the new career and technical education center and the new middle school on Three Lakes Parkway.
The schools are among six projects included in the district’s 2013 bond election and are scheduled to open to students in fall 2015.
Construction is well underway on the career and technical education center, which is being built on property near the intersection of Earl Campbell Parkway and Bennett Avenue.
Construction is to start on the new middle school in the spring. Toward that end, the board is scheduled to vote on the Guaranteed Maximum Price and amendment to the Tim Jackson Construction Co. Inc. contract for the construction of the new middle school on Three Lakes Parkway.
In July, the board approved the hire of Jackson Construction as the construction manager at risk for the project.
The company’s guaranteed maximum price, including all work categories for the building package, is $25.89 million, which is within the 2013 bond budget, according to district information.
In other business, the board is scheduled to:
n Vote on the resignation of Hogg Middle School Principal Josh Garred, who accepted a position as Whitehouse Junior High School principal. Garred became principal of Hogg in July 2013 and his resignation is effective June 6, according to district information.
n Vote on the calling of the district’s general and special elections for May 10. The purpose is to elect trustees to fill the expired terms of Single Member Districts 2 and 4 and the unexpired term of Single Member District 5.
n Discuss in closed session Superintendent Gary Mooring’s contract and evaluation. Mooring has served as the district’s superintendent since January 2013. He came on as interim superintendent in July 2012.
The board meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday in the Tyler ISD Administration Building Conference Room B, 1319 Earl Campbell Parkway.
